A community first

Brought together around the art, in a friendly and welcoming spirit.

MFD is a non-profit association. Beyond the stages, we gather people who love fight and defence sports to train, play and learn together: playful activities, shared moments, and a first introduction to the philosophy behind these disciplines.

For the youngest as for the oldest. Knowledge and disciplines are shared with respect for one another, whatever the style or the level.

Frequently asked questions

What to know before you come.

What is MFD, Masters of Fight & Defence?

MFD is a Belgian premium label, run by a non-profit association, that organises one- to two-hour stages with invited masters of martial arts, combat sports and self-defence. Each stage ends with a numbered certificate signed by the master.

Who can take part in an MFD stage?

Everyone, from children to elders, from beginners to black belts. The masters adapt the work to the levels present; respect for others and for their level is the only condition of entry.

What is the MFD certificate worth?

The certificate is a premium, numbered document bearing the MFD seal and signed by the hand of the master who led the stage. It attests to practice supervised by a recognised reference in the discipline and is kept as a trace of one's path.

How long does a stage last and how often do they take place?

A stage lasts one to two hours with the master. MFD organises several stages a year; the first is planned for February 2027 in Belgium, with two invited masters.

How are the masters chosen?

By co-optation only. A master joins MFD by invitation, for their level, their teaching and their attachment to the values of respect, honour, sharing and community.

Which disciplines are covered?

Traditional martial arts, combat sports and defence practices: judo, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai, krav maga, Mastro Defence System (MDS), MMA, kendo, systema, aikido, self-defence, and more as invitations go out.
